Getting started
When should we involve you in a project?
At layout stage, before electrical drawings are finalised. Second best is before wiring begins. After plaster, a good system is still possible, with the available options and cost shaped by the existing structure.
Can this be done in a home that is already finished?
Often yes, depending on ceiling access. Full KNX runs on cable. In a completed home we do everything achievable with walls intact — shading, audio, cameras, access and climate — and use wireless or hybrid control for lighting. We will tell you which applies once we have seen the property.
Do you work outside Mumbai?
Yes. We have completed work in Alibaug alongside projects across Mumbai. Tell us the location and we will say honestly how well we can service it afterwards, which matters more than the installation itself.
Do you take on offices and commercial spaces?
Yes. We have completed office and hospitality work as well as private residences.
Cost
What does a system cost?
It varies widely, so a figure here would mislead. Cost follows the number of controlled circuits and the scope of AV rather than floor area — a compact flat with every circuit dimmed can exceed a larger home with basic control. Tell us the property and what you want controlled, and you will get a real number.
Is KNX more expensive than Control4?
Usually comparable, and generally less than Crestron or Lutron for similar scope. Scope drives the price far more than the badge does. We quote both platforms honestly and tell you which one fits.
Will you quote against a BOQ we already have?
Yes. If we see an element that deserves a different approach for the project, we will explain it before quoting and show you the reasoning behind it.
Living with it
Does it need internet?
A KNX installation runs on its own wired bus inside the building, so it operates independently. Internet is used for remote access from outside and for streaming services.
What happens when a component needs attention?
Intelligence sits in each device rather than a central hub, so each device manages its own functions. Lighting circuits can also be designed to fall back to conventional switching.
Do we have to use an app?
Every function lives on a physical keypad first, so the house is fully usable by hand. The app is there as a convenience for when you are away.
Is it complicated for parents or staff to use?
It should feel obvious. If a member of your household needs instruction to work the lights, the scenes were programmed badly — and that is ours to fix.
Afterwards
How quickly do you respond to service requests?
Acknowledged within one hour during working hours, and on site within 24 to 48 hours whenever a visit is needed. Requests reach Siddharth directly.
Can we change the system later?
Yes. Because KNX is an open standard, any KNX-certified engineer can read and modify your installation. Adding a room or reprogramming a scene is routine work.
What happens if Control Valley stops trading?
Your system keeps running and stays serviceable by any KNX-certified engineer. We hand over your programming file at completion. That is the practical argument for an open standard.
Still have a question?
WhatsApp it. You will have an answer inside the hour during working hours.
